Round 8 of the WiManx Fell Running league takes place on Sunday 15th June. The Arthur Jones Bradda Fell Race starts and finishes at Bradda Glen in Port Erin and covers a 24km course to South Barrule and back. Start time is 10.00am for the main race with an earlier start time of 9.00am for those expecting to finish in over 3hrs 30 mins. We do not wish to inconvenience any customers at the Bradda Glen restaurant by taking up too many car parking spaces. If possible please car share or park on the road outside the glen.

The Bradda is a very tough race but is mostly on well worn public footpaths and is by far the easiest of our courses to navigate. Any roadie with reasonable fitness would find this race an ideal taster to fell running.

Millenium Way Relay 2014

Have you decided on your challenge for 2014 - Why not raise the bar whilst raising money for The Children's Centre?

The Millennium Way Relay Race is a perfect opportunity for you and your team mates to be part of a fantastic event and raise funds for an amazing charity.

The race is over a 28 mile, multi terrain course on the historic Millennium Way. The route consists of four legs each of which is very different and has it's own challenges. The first leg (11 miles approx) starting in Ramsey is the longest across open fell, the second (6 miles approx) is trail and mostly downhill, whilst the third (4.5 miles approx) is all on the road but predominantly uphill. The final stage (6.5 miles approx) of the course is mainly flat and across country. So there should be a leg that appeals to everyone.

The relay event is open to teams of up to four people and there will also be an option for individual runners to run the entire distance of approx 26 miles!

The race finishes in Castletown Poulson Park. There will be a post race buffet and presentation not forgetting your free running vest. Family, friends and supporters are welcome to come along to the presentation.

We will include in your race pack a sponsorship form to help you and your supporters raise some additional funds for The Children's Centre. The Children’s Centre develops, manages and pioneers a variety of community initiatives and services aimed at enabling children, young people and families to realise their full potential. Carraghan Race Update

Updated route information:

When ascending the Millennium Way the gates at the fields may be shut if there are sheep in them. Please make sure you re-close them. At the first field it is ok to run in the field itself rather than following the exact Millennium path. Please stay as close to the path as possible. The second field is fenced of and is out of bounds which means everyone will have to stick to the Millennium Way path. The top gate leading on to the fells must be used out and back although once on the fells any route can be taken to the summit and back to the gate.

Thanks to Phillip Caley and Graham Crowe for their cooperation.

Carraghan Fell Race

The Buchanan and Pitts sponsored Carraghan Fell Race that is to be held on Tuesday 13th May will now start and finish at Ballawyllin Beg in East Baldwin. This is due to the Injebreck Plantation being closed at present due to the problems with diseased larch trees.

The revised course will follow the route of the Baldwin Valleys race from the start at Ballawyllin Beg to the summit of Carraghan, returning the same way in reverse. Start time is 6.30pm with registration from 5.30pm. All competitors must carry full safety gear that will be checked at registration. The seventh round of the 2014 WiManx fell league will now be over a distance of 5.8km with 346m of ascent. Minimum age to enter is 15 years on race day.

Anyone wishing to recce the course can do so by gaining access via the Millenium Way from St Lukes church.

It is hoped to organise a BBQ after the race. Please car share where possible as parking will be limited.

Manx Fell Runners would like to thank the various landowners and DEFRA for all their help and support.
