RACE WEEKEND: The race start and evening presentation take place on PORT ERIN BEACH.

The race is the main event of the Beach Festival weekend, further details on Port Erin Commissioners, website here  when available of the other sporting events such as sandcastle building competition, open water swim, and mountain bike races.

There is also the MICROGRAMING LIGHTHOUSES CHALLENGE SPORTIVE on Sunday, with 100, 57 & 42 miles routes available, and 2700m of climb

For accommodation and travel by boat/seacat, the "special deals" negotiated for the race are good value (telephone booking only) especially for late bookings, i.e. within 3 months of race.

CAMPING OPTIONS: There are plenty of secluded places for Camper Van parking in the South of the Island.

Due to planning restrictions we are unable to provide a temporary race campsite. Peel or Glen Glough Campsites are available via the Steam Packet special deals - from £55 for 2 nights including boat fare, and an additional £109 vehicle supplement, which is recommended for transport to the race . 

iomtents.com have TT tents primarily for the motorcyclists at Rushen AFC, but the minimum stay is 4 nights, for approx. £239 for 2 persons.

TRAVEL AROUND ISLAND

The Steam Packet boat and Seatcat terminal is in Douglas, approx. 15 miles/50mins by bus or car along the A5 to Port Erin.

There are regular buses throughout the day and evening along the A5. Ronaldsway Airport is also on th A5, in Ballasalla, about half way to Port Erin.

Hire cars such as http://www.iomrac.com/ may be a cheaper option than bringing your own car.

TRAVEL TO ISLAND

Book flights and boat/seacat early for best fares ,already  £50+ return (8th Dec14) from Manchester (Flybe) and Liverpool (Easyjet) and will become more expensive.

Bicycles do not need to be booked on the boat/seacat when travelling as a foot passenger.

Race Route

  • Start and finish at Bradda Glen GR 193696.

  • Follow the Raad ny Foillan coastal footpath towards Fleshwick. Descend to the Fleshwick valley manned safety control (1) and (8) first aid GR 201713.

  • Left towards shore and then climb on the Raad Ny Foillan before branching off to the right at the top of the wall to follow the Carnanes track to the Sloc manned safety control (2) and (6) first aid GR 217734.

  • Rejoin the Raad ny Foillan and ascend to the summit of Cronk ny Arrey Laa Unmanned control  (3) and (5), GR 224746.

  • Descend on the easterly track, through 2 kissing gates crossing the Eary Cushlin green lane GR 233747 on to Cronk Fedjag, and follow the path to the Round Table Cross Roads GR 248759.

  • Cross the Round Table Road and ascend to the summit of South Barrule GR 259759 Unmanned control (4)
  • The race retraces on the same route in reverse to unmanned control (3) and (5) on Cronk Ny Arrey Laa to the Sloc. Manned safety control (2) and (6) first aid.
  • From the Sloc continue on the Raad ny Foillan ascending Lhiattee ny Beinnee Unmanned control (7) GR 212728.
  • Continue on the track and descend back in to the Fleshwick Valley. Manned Safety control (1) and (8) first aid. GR 201713,
  • Return back to Bradda Glen on the same route following the coastal footpath and finish back at Bradda Glen.
