Sedbergh hills
These are unique times for the running community and we’re all probably wondering where our next race is coming from. The English Schools Fell Running Champs, given it’s autumn position in the fixture calendar, has a better chance than most and could well still go ahead and I think it’s at least worth looking at planning a trip and provide some focus for the junior athletes for when this is all over! Obviously, we’ll have to adhere to the Government advice both locally and in the UK but it’d be great to have something to train toward given the brilliant performances last year and keep the momentum going. I’ve already made some inquiries in regard to accommodation in Sedbergh but given the current situation it’s difficult for anyone to confirm bookings, but there are several options available. All we can do for now is get an expression of interest so I’ve knocked up an online form for anyone interested to indicate they’d be up for a potential trip to Sedbergh on October 4th.
Our local athletics clubs all compete together to represent Isle of Man Schools with 3 to count in each category so it’d be great to see the Isle of Man represented in each age group. Numbers have been on the up year on year but in some age groups we haven’t yet been able to qualify due to lack of runners so all athletes are more than welcome to gain from the experience.
Any parents, guardians or coaches whose athletes may be interested please use the form below to give us an idea on numbers. No commitment, it’s just for us to have an idea on how many people may make the trip. Please share with anyone else you think may be interested. Nearer the time we’ll (hopefully!) have an itinerary and better idea of costs. Should the event go ahead then we will require that a consent form is completed detailing any medical considerations and emergency contact numbers.
Keep safe, keep training.
