The organisers reserve the right to change any part of the course and their decision on any matter concerning the race is final. Minimum age of entry is 18 years, turning 19 years by 31st December. Held under FRA rules, waterproof whole body cover, map and compass, hat & gloves, whistle and emergency food are required

A short course (<5km) for juniors and novices will be held in conjunction with this race, details will be published in due course but course will be fully marked. Minimum age for the short course is 12 (and turning 13 by 31st December). Short course runners must bring waterproof jacket (not just windproof), waterproof trousers, hat, gloves and whistle.

Race Route

  • Start/ Finish at The Bungalow, Snaefell  SC396 867

  • Head due north for approx. 3 km to unmanned checkpoint 1 on the southern edge of the Block Eary tholtan – SC396 898

  • Cross in a north westerly direction to unmanned checkpoint 2 on the eastern edge of the Slieaumanagh tholtan – SC384 904

  • With care, cross over the Block Eary Valley in a southerly direction to manned checkpoint 3 at the northern edge of the Ballaskella tholtans – SC384 900. Cross the boundary fence by the flagged stile which is 50m above the complex of tholtans on the eastern side.

[WARNING - The Block Eary Valley is very steep sided in places - carefully choose a safe route to cross. Crossing via the Block Eary Dam wall or the adjacent metal service bridge is prohibited.] 

  • Leave Ballaskella in a south easterly direction by the flagged route for the gate to access the open hillside.  Climb to checkpoint 4 at the trig point on the summit of Snaefell  - SC397 882

  • Descend to the finish at the Bungalow.
