Killer Mile 2023
/Manx Fell Runners will be promoting the annual Killer Mile on Wednesday 16th August and it will be a counter in the No Rest for the Wicked series. The time trial based race will be held on the Douglas Head course starting next to the Marine Drive just south of the Pigeon Stream car park with the finish near the radio masts at Carnane, Upper Howe. The course will be fully marked and marshalled.
Pre entry will be available via link below with entry fees paid either online or at registration on the day. It will be £5 for seniors and £1 for juniors. All entry fees will be donated to the excellent charity Cruse Bereavement. Registration will be at the start area from 18.00 until 18.50. All those contesting the NRFTW series will be automatically entered for the Killer and do not need to pay at registration, just pick up their race number. It may be possible to enter on the day but we strongly advise everyone to pre enter. This event is ideal for the whole family to have the opportunity to compete against each other in the same race. Any families who wish to start in the same group should register together and we will try to accommodate them. Minimum age is 9 years. Parents/guardians of any junior runners who have not yet competed in an MFR organised event this year, and/or not already submitted a valid consent form can download one from the MFR main page https://manxfellrunners.org (to the right of this post) or fill one in at registration. Consent forms are valid for the remainder of 2023. The race is a counter in the 2023 Junior Fell League.
It is the competitor’s responsibility to be ready to start at their allocated time which will be written on their race numbers. Runner`s will be set off in groups of 5 at 30 second intervals. First group off will be at 19.01. There is ample parking on the Marine Drive but please park carefully. There are no toilet facilities at the venue. The nearest are at the Sea Terminal or at the Battery Pier near the Manx Petroleum Fuel Depot.
The whole of the course is on private land including the road up to the Upper Howe. Only race officials have permission to drive up to the finish on the day. Spectators are welcome to walk the course from the Marine Drive but please stay close to the marked route. At the request of the farmer no dogs anywhere on the course please.
