Registration for this coming Saturdays final round of the Aston International Winter Hill League will take place in the main car park in Station Road St Johns from 12.15pm until 1.15pm. Race starts at 1.30pm. The presentation of awards will be at the Highwayman in Peel at around 3.15pm where refreshments (chip baps) will be provided. It looks like another wet week leading up to race day so expect lots of mud!
Remember that league positions are calculated from cumulative time so no easing off! It's looking very tight for some positions - interim league table.
Results have been published on the results page now - http://manxfellrunners.org/the-results/
Fantastic start to this years Aston International sponsored Winter Hill Running League. A record entry of 127 squeezed their way around the challenging but enjoyable course at Cringle. Some great performances throughout the field especially the newcomers and the juniors were outstanding. I don`t have the official results as yet but looks like a new course record for Jackie. Great atmosphere at the finish with everyone receiving acknowledgement for thier efforts.A special well done to Helen and Nigel for such a brave and positive performance. Many thanks to Eric and all those who made sure the junior lad was ok. Thanks also to sponsor Aston International and to DEFA for access. Finally thanks to everyone who helped on the day and those who set the course up and cleared up afterwards.Next stop Eary Beg. (Richie Stevenson)
I've put together a provisional league finishers table which you can view here. You may need to zoom in as it was a struggle to fit all the columns onto one page!
Remember that to qualify for the league (and hoody!) you must have completed at least 6 league races of which one must have been an AL category race and have marshalled, or provided a marshall for one race also.
If you have any queries please let us know via the contact form (http://manxfellrunners.org/club/)
Details on the AGM and prize presentation will be announced soon,
Could all league finishers as identified in the final table please email - [email protected] by Monday the 2nd November at the very latest.
Please simply include your full name and size required, emails to this address will not be answered, and colour will only be revealed at the AGM / Presentation.
Thanks

10/11/2015 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, could anyone who has not yet done so send in your required sizes, so far we haver had very few responses and this order needs to be placed, without this information a best guess will be made and exchanges cannot be guaranteed!
The Aston International sponsored Winter Hill League gets underway on Saturday 24th October at the Cringle Plantation. The 4km course is held over well worn tracks and will be fully marked. It is an ideal course for any newcomers to try hill running in a controlled environment. Winning time is expected to be around 16 minutes.
The start and finish will be near the main entrance to the Cringle Plantation on the B39 Solomons Corner to Corlea road. Easy way to get there is to go up the main road at Foxdale and take the second turning on the right at Solomons Corner. Follow this road until you will see the Cringle Reservoir on your right. The start and finish is just past the reservoir on the right. If coming from the south turn off the A27 Colby Glen Road onto the B39 just past Ronague Chapel.
Registration will be at the main entrance gate to the plantation from 12.15pm until 1.15pm. The race will incorporate the first leg of the 2015 Junior Hill Runing Championships for school years 8 and upwards. Minimum age is 12 years on race day.
Parking is limited so car sharing is strongly advised. There is limited parking available at the reservoir, at a small park to the south of the start area and at the side of the road in places. Please park carefully.

Bradda Glen, Port Erin. The start/finish area is above the car park at
Bradda Glen. It will be signposted on the day.
Age Groups:
Races for primary school children in years 2 through to and including year 7. If
numbers allow there will be separate races for boys and girls in each year group,
otherwise the girls and boys will be combined. Results will be declared for boys and
girls. Year 2 is the strict age limit. Children in lower year groups might be very keen
to have a go, but we must hold them back from competition until they reach year 2.
*Please note that year 7 are being included this year, as FRA regulations will
prevent young people under 12 years old competing in the Winter Hill League.
Entry Forms: Please read carefully.
Entry forms are available for a school/club block entry or by individual entry.
Teachers/Coaches may block enter children, but they MUST have an individual
entry form signed by a parent for each of the children on the block entry sheet. Only
the block entry sheet needs to be sent in, but teachers/coaches are asked to hold
onto the signed individual entries until after the race, in case of any incidents. It
would be very helpful to enter in advance to help with organisation, although
individual entries will also be taken on the day.
Advance entries can be emailed/posted to David Griffin (see below).
Race numbers and pins will be provided at Registration.
The races are free of charge for all children, thanks to the kind sponsorship
provided by the Isle of Man Bank and the Manx Fell Runners Club.
Registration:
Open from 12:30pm and located at the start/finish area above Bradda Glen. If
raining on the day we may move registration to a sheltered spot in the Bradda Glen
car park. Registration will be signposted on the day.
Courses:
The courses will include flat sections, hill climb and descent for all year group.
There will be some wide and narrow paths with plenty of twists and turns. The
distance for each race will increase as we progress up the year groups, the
maximum distance for each race will be as follows:
Years 2 & 3 800m Years 1000m Years 6 & 7 2000m
The courses will be clearly marked with flags and tape. Marshals wearing high-viz
vests will be positioned over the length of the courses. There is plenty of
opportunity for excellent spectating, but we do request that spectators stand back
and keep the course clear for the competitors.
Map:
You can view a map of each course here
Footwear:
The ground is predominantly short grass, but there is also some stony path. It is
advisable for competitors to wear running shoes with grip. The grass can become
very slippy.
Car Parking:
We recommend parking on the road up from Port Erin promenade. Access by foot
will be signposted from the road. Bradda Glen Car park should be kept clear for
cafe customers and other visitors. Please take care if driving as there will be lot of
children and pedestrians along the road in and around the entrance to Bradda
Glen.
Toilets:
There are public toilets located on Port Erin Promenade close to the Cosy Nook
Cafe.
First Aid:
First aid will be in attendance on the day. Please ask any marshal if first aid
assistance is required.
Prizes:
Every competitor will receive a treat for competing after finishing their race. Awards
will be issued through the schools after the event. We ask that schools complete
the certificates with the names of the children who take part. Details will be
provided.
A trophy will be awarded to the school which enters the most runners. The size of
the school will also be taken in to consideration.
Poor Weather:
Rain will not be enough to postpone the event! But should the forecast be very poor
we shall make an announcement to postpone the event on the Manx Fell Runner’s
website and via Manx Radio early in the morning.
