A talented group of runners returned from a highly successful trip to the English Schools Fell Running Championships on Sunday, held in Settle, North Yorks. The 15 strong squad, representing our local athletics clubs and schools, finished a very impressive 6th overall position out of 32 schools.
Team Gold for the year 10/11 girls!
There were a number of stand out individual performances but the highlight of the day must be the girls year 10/11 trio of Lorna Spiers, Lydia Morris and Phoebe Coates (all Northern AC), each finishing inside the top 15 to take team gold! In the boys year 12/13 category, David Mullarkey took a brilliant 5th place with his teammates of Alex Bell and Luke Phair finishing high up the field to earn a team bronze.

Reigning IOM champions Macy Hillier and Gethin Owen both recorded top 10 finishes and attempt to defend their local titles in Saturday's Junior Hill Champs at Bradda.
In the year 7 races, reigning IOM Junior Hill Running champions Macy Hillier and Gethin Owen both notched up top 10 finishes and both should attempt to defend their titles at Bradda this Saturday.
Alex Read was part of a very sucessful Northen AC contingent
Northern AC again demonstrated the strength of their junior runners in the year 8/9 race with Alex Read and Nathan Cannell both finishing well into the top 3rd with Jodie Vaughan, Ella Crowe and Catherine Perry all putting in a great team effort for the girls.
Debutant Ieuan Owen was the sole representative in the boys year 10/11 race and ran very strongly to finish well into the top half of a high quality field.

A strong looking squad head out to test themselves against England's best this weekend when they compete in the English Schools Champs in Settle, North Yorks on Sunday 24th Sept.

Remember that to qualify you must be a first or second claim member of MFR or a first claim member of a local club affiliated for fell running, and have completed 5 league races (noting there is still one to go).

What ya worried about? It's only a mile!!
The Killer Mile returns to Sky Hill, Ramsey on Wednesday 16th August, as part of the No Rest for the Wicked series. The course has been revised slightly and in a change from previous years, runners will start in pairs. Please also note that there will be no entries accepted on the line. Entry fee is £5 (donation optional for juniors) which will go to the Hyperbaric Chamber. Minimum age is 9.
Entries closed at 8pm on Tuesday 15th August.
If you are in the NO REST FOR THE WICKED series already you DO NOT need to pre-enter - you will automatically be added to the start list. We will try to pair runners according to their NRFTW standing.
Please arrive in good time to allow for timekeepers and marshals to reach their positions. Parking is available in field below Lezayre Church courtesy of Silly Moos.
Registration opens at 6pm, race off at 7pm.
Please bring full safety kit - a decision will be made on the night as to what kit will be required.
Start and finish is at the Bungalow, 8km in distance. Minimum age is 16.

Congratulations to all the competitors in this years 2017 Manx Mountain Marathon and Half Marathon and a big thank you to all the helpers, officials, Civil Defence and sponsors.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the James Coulson Laxey Fell Race on Wednesday evening. It was the latest round of the Callin Wild Manx Fell League and it had a record entry of 65 runners. Many thanks to all the helpers for a great job and to DEFA for access. A big thank you to John and all the folk at Ballacowin and Glen Ruy Farms for their superb support and hospitality. A special thanks to young David who did a splendid job of starting the race.
