Killer Mile 2019 - Information & Pre Entry

Manx Fell Runners will be promoting the annual Killer Mile on Wednesday 14th August as a counter in the No Rest for the Wicked series.  The course, last used in 2015, will start next to the Marine Drive just south of the Pigeon Stream with the finish near the radio masts at Upper Howe. The route will be fully marked but if you’re unsure of where the race goes you can check the map HERE.

All those entered for the week long series will be automatically entered for the Killer plus the race is open to anyone who wishes to compete on the day. Pre entry is available at the link below and it will also be possible to enter on the day but please be aware there is a limit of 120 runners.  Minimum age is 9 years on race day. Parents/guardians of any junior runners who have not yet competed in an MFR organised event this year, and/or not already submitted a valid consent form, can download one in advance from here or fill one out at registration. Consent forms are valid for the year.

Registration will be at the start area from 6.00pm. Start times will be dependent on when you register. Runners will be set off in groups of 4 at one minute intervals from 7.00pm.  Any family groups etc who wish to start together are asked to register at the same time.

There is plenty of car parking available on the Marine Drive. Please be aware there are no toilet facilities available. The nearest toilets are at the Battery Pier or Sea Terminal.

All entries fees, £5 for seniors and £1 for juniors under 18 years, will be donated to the Special Care Baby Unit at Nobles Hospital.

PRE ENTRY NOW CLOSED - LIMITED ENTRIES AVAILABLE AT REGISTRATION (CLOSES AT 6:45PM)

North Barrule 2019 - Wednesday 3rd July 2019

The forecast is looking good, so hopefully we will have relaxed safety requirements. However, please always arrive ready to carry everything. Please be careful driving up to the farm, it is a narrow, single track road. Be especially careful after the race, when you have to turn left/right back onto the coast road at the Hibernia junction.

Sign on from 6:00pm, closes at 6:50pm to enable time keepers and runners to get to the start area. No late comers!

This is the penultimate counter in the Junior League, so it would be great to see the juniors competing. Open to all runners aged 12 or above.

Next race in the Callin Wild Manx Fell Running League will be the James Coulson Laxey Race. Date is Thursday June 13th with a 7.00pm start from Glen Ruy Farm. Registration will be from 6.00pm until 6.45pm.

Full safety gear is mandatory for all runners. Minimum age is 18 years on race day. Distance is 13km with a challenging 650m of ascent. If you need to access the course for a recce the easiest way during TT fortnight is to go from the car park at Conrhenny. Farmer John Corlett has given permission to pass through the fields to the first summit check point, Johns Cairn. The course can then be followed as far as the final check point on the mountain wall above Ballacowin Farm. Please do not go on to the farm land. The route back to the finish will be clearly marked on race day. [Richie Stevenson]
