The next event in the 2020 Callin Wild Manx Fell Running League takes place on Sunday 26th July. Due to the Manx Mountain Marathon being cancelled earlier this year the Bradda Fell Race will be the first long race of 2020 and will be held over a 24km course that starts and finishes in the area above Bradda Glen. Start time is 10.00 with registration in the Bradda car park from 9.00. Full safety gear is mandatory for all competitors and will be inspected at registration. Minimum age for entry is 18 years on race day.
Please do not use the bottom car park at the glen as this will be required for the cafe`s lunch time customers. As in previous races we would strongly advise car sharing.

The MMM presentation was due to be held at the Bradda Glen Cafe back in Easter but obviously this was cancelled. It`s been a hard time for everyone in the catering industry so if you fancy a cuppa after the race then maybe give the Bradda Cafe some custom?
There will be no short course for junior and novice runners at Bradda. These categories will be able to compete again at the Killer Mile on 12th August and we will also include a short course at Slieau Ruy on August 21st and Slooby Dhoo on the 5th September. We have been pleasantly surprised at the support this category has received all year with a reasonable number of starters in all races, including an encouraging number of juniors. Obviously the Covid situation has meant arrangements for this season have had to be changed at short notice and complicated everyone’s plans. Because of this we have decided that there will be no junior league as such and instead any junior who completes or has completed 3 races in 2020 will be awarded a special junior hoodie.
Results from the full course can be found HERE
Results from the junior/novice race have been split into a “short short course” and “short course” to reflect the alternative routes.
Short Course
After a short break we race again on Sunday 5th July at the excellent James Coulson Laxey Fell Race which was originally scheduled for May 24th. The start and finish is at Glen Ruy Farm and will cover a 13km route that includes 650m of ascent. The course is without doubt one of the most enjoyable in the Callin Wild Manx League. Route description and map is obtainable on https://manxfellrunners.org/james-coulson-laxey.
New for 2020, there will also be a race for juniors and novices aged 12+ which will include a climb to Windy Corner and return via the full course route.
Start time is 10.30 with registration from 9.30. Full safety gear is mandatory and will be checked when competitors are registering.
Minimum age for the full course is 18 years on race day. We would advise any newcomers to the sport of fell running to check out the advice on our website regarding safety kit and checkpoints - https://manxfellrunners.org/checkpoints-and-safety-info
It is very pleasing that we are enjoying very good numbers of runners in most of our races. This does however, create problems with parking and this is again the case at Glen Ruy. We would strongly advise to car share if possible.
A good portion of the course is on private land and therefore out of bounds apart from race day. All the private land sections will be well flagged on the day. Anyone wishing to recce the open fells section can access the course from Creg Ny Baa, Windy Corner or the Bungalow.
To get to Glen Ruy Farm travelling from the south turn off the TT Course at the Creg Ny Baa Hotel and follow the back road past Conrhenny Plantation and then down the hill joining the Ballacollister Road. Turn first left into the Baldhoon Road and the farm is about 1 mile along this road. There will be a sign on the farm entrance. If coming from Laxey turn into the Baldhoon Road at the garage in the village. MAP HERE
We require a few helpers on race day. They are 2 for the CP in the Snaefell valley and 2 for the CP at the mountain wall at the top of Ballacowin farm. Also 1 for the finish. Please get in touch f you can help.

Runners emerge from the plantation as they tackle the 2011 race
The shortest race in the Callin Wild Fell League will take place on Wednesday 24th June. Start time for the 4km lung buster to the summit of Carraghan and back is 19.00. The start and finish will be near the main gate in to the Injebreck Plantation at the northern end of the West Baldwin reservoir. Registration is from 18.00 at Ard Whallan Outdoor Pursuits Centre where the main building will be open with access to toilets. Registration will close at 18:45 to allow runners and officials to make their way to the start Minimum age is 12 years on race day. As this is a short race safety gear is not compulsory if the weather is favourable. However, if poor conditions then a waterproof jacket and whistle will be compulsory for everyone. We would advise all juniors and newcomers to carry this gear whatever the conditions. The race will be a counter in both the Junior and senior leagues.
Car parking could well be a problem as there are only limited spaces available. We will have marshals organising parking so please follow their directions. We very strongly advise car sharing. Please park sensibly.
We would be grateful if we could have a few volunteers to help marshal the race. Please get in touch as soon as possible.
Please pre enter using the link below. Senior race entry fee is £5, juniors free. On the day senior entries will be charged an additional £2.

The committee of Manx Fell Runners regret to announce that due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation all Manx Fell Races will be postponed indefinitely as from today. This includes the Slooby Dhoo race scheduled for this weekend and the Manx Mountain Marathon. A full statement will follow in due course.

The next race in the 2020 Callin Wild sponsored Manx Fell League will be the Slooby Dhoo on Saturday March 21st. It will be the 3rd round of the league and will cover an 9.5km course that takes in a hefty 750m of ascent including the infamous climb to the summit of Slieau Freoghane. Start time is 13.30 from the Ballaugh Plantation car park. Registration is from 12.15 until 13.15. The course is categorised as a short race which allows the organisers to make some concessions on runner`s safety gear if so wished. However, due to the severity of the route and the possibility of poor weather, it will be mandatory for all runner`s to carry full safety gear which will be checked at registration. Minimum age for entry in the Slooby Dhoo race is 18 years on race day.
Following on from the success of the junior and novice races at Ardwhallan and Creg Ny Baa we will be holding a shorter “Scrappy Dhoo” race . A 5km course has been identified with a good variety of terrain. Minimum age for this shorter race is 12.
Car parking is very limited and we would appeal to as many competitors as possible to car share. Anyone who travels via public transport will receive free race entry on production of their ticket. Service 5/6 serves Ballaugh village from both Ramsey, Peel and Douglas and are well timed to coincide with the start of registration. See HERE for details.
All the marshal`s positions on the Slooby require a bit of a hike. If you fancy a bit of exercise and help the club we will need people to man safety controls at Slieau Curn, Slieau Freoghane and Slieau Dhoo. Please get in touch as soon as possible.
