Night Fun Run - Glen Helen/Eairy Beg

Anyone fancy something a bit different? We will be trying out a night fun run event held on Wednesday 13th December at 7pm around the Glen Helen/Eairy Beg WHL course.  The original plan was for a self timed time trial style event around the WHL course but with the postponement of the race on Saturday and issues with the course marking (flags are being continually removed by some probably well meaning but misguided people!) we will run it as a guided fun run to give runners a flavour of running in the dark. If it proves popular then we may look at introducing a bona fide race.

It'll obviously be dark so you'll need a decent headtorch (ideally with spare batteries or a spare torch) and we recommend runners carry a phone also and dress according to the conditions. It may still be frosty at the summit and there is likely to be lying snow so make sure you have suitable footwear.

Turn up at the Glen Helen car park between 6:30 and 7pm, runners will set off from 7pm. The 2.7 miles course can be completed within 30 - 60 mins.

Aston International WHL Round 3 - Glen Helen/Eairy Beg

The final round in this year`s Aston International sponsored Winter Hill League takes place on Saturday 9th December at Eairy Beg Plantation, Glen Helen. Registration from 12.30pm until 1.15pm at the main car park. Start time will be 1.30pm. Minimum age for entry is 12 years on race day.

If you have competed in any of the previous 2 rounds you do not need to fill out an entry form but you will need to collect a new race number. If this is your first race then you must complete the entry form. Juniors (< 18) are free, £5 for seniors.

There is a fair amount of car parking available although we would recommend as many as possible to car share. Please do not park on the main road outside the car park.

The short 4.5km course will be fully marked. We would, however, advise everyone to turn up early to check out some or all of the route.

Awards for the league will be presented at the Tynwald Inn, St John`s as soon as possible after the race.

An interim league table can be found HERE

Aston International WHL Round 2

Provisional results from round 2 of the Aston International Winter Hill League, held at Cringle Plantation HERE

Please note these are very much provisional and will be adjusted as per Richie's previous post on Facebook:

Unfortunately there were a number of runners in today`s race at Cringle who unintentionally went off course. The route they followed made it at least a couple of minutes shorter than the scheduled one meaning some finishing positions and times were incorrect. We cannot be sure as to who went off course although we have a good idea. We believe that most competitors are aware of their mistake with some having already informed us. In order to have a correct result we would ask everyone who knowingly went off course to inform us as soon as possible. Unfortunately we will have to penalise these competitors with a time adjustment. The only other options we have in a situation like this is to DQ all those who went off course or to call the race result null and void. MFR prides itself on its friendly and encouraging attitude towards all competitors and so we feel a time penalty will suffice in this instance.

Aston International Winter Hill League Round 2 - Cringle

The second round of the Aston International sponsored Winter Hill League takes place this Saturday 11th November at the Cringle Plantation. Start and finish area will be at the side of the reservoir near the main car park and it is here that registration will take place from 12.30pm until 1.15pm. Please arrive in good time as a big entry is expected. Race starts at 1.30pm.

The course will differ from last year due to problems with the poor condition of some of the tracks. It will, however, be fully marked. You are advised to arrive early enough to check out at least part of the course. Minimum age for entry is 12 years on race day.

There is limited parking at the main car park and the overflow park further along the Corleaa Road. Please be very careful where you leave your car. You are strongly advised to car share if possible.

To get to the Cringle from the Foxdale Road turn off the A3 at Solomon`s Corner and then head along the Corleaa to Ronague Road. If travelling from the south head up the Colby Glen Road and then A27 Ronague Road and turn right onto the Corleaa Road.

If you ran the previous round at Slieau Whallian then you just need to collect a new race number and pay your fee. New entrants will need to fill in an entry form.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SAME RACE NUMBER FROM THE PREVIOUS ROUND - NEW NUMBERS ARE ISSUED FOR EACH RACE.
