Snaefell & Tholtans Fell Race

After a delay of 2 years the inaugural Snaefell & The Tholtans takes place this Sunday at 10am, starting from The Bungalow.

* ENTRIES NOW CLOSED *

Minimum age is 18 years on race day. Full safety gear is mandatory for all competitors in the full race. There will be random kit checks at registration which will be held from 8:45 until 9:45am at the Bungalow. We are delighted that Victory Cafe is going to give us some space for registration, so please support them on the day or another time when in the area. All those planning on running are advised to check out the race rules here https://manxfellrunners.org/rules.

There will also be a short course race for the Junior Fell League held at the same time. This will be over a course of around 4.5km venturing to the Black Hut and Snaefell Summit. Juniors must be 12 (and have their 13th birthday by 31st December 2022). The route will be fully marked and marshalled. All short course runners must carry a waterproof hooded top and trousers, hat, gloves and whistle. Senior runners can also enter the short race with the aim being to encourage newcomers to have a go at the fells in a relatively controlled environment. This shorter distance might also be of benefit to anyone on the comeback from injury.

Please park with care and considerately. Please do not take the parking around the Victory Cafe. Car share if possible. The Manx Electric Railway is also starting its operations so watch out for trams and keep off the tracks.

Remember to qualify for the league you must marshal one slot in a league race or supply a suitable substitute. Do not leave it too late to come forward as there might not be any slots left in the races later in the season.

* RACE MAPS ARE NOT PROVIDED - PLEASE PRINT YOUR OWN OR ASK SOMEONE TO PRINT ONE FOR YOU*

Slieau Ruy Fell Race 2022

IMPORTANT changes to the Slieau Ruy races originally intended for Saturday 26th February.

In order to maximise the limited amount of car parking space available to competitors, whilst minimising any adverse impact for customers of the cafe now operating at Glen Helen, the MFR Committee have decided to change the date of the race to the Sunday morning of the 27th February with the start planned for 09.30. Please accept our apologies for this late change in plans and earlier then normal start time.

Vehicle parking is always a particular issue for this event. To help we have kindly been offered the off road space at the Black Dub which is a 10 minute walk down the road from Glen Helen. Be prepared to use this location and allow suitable time to register and please car share if at all possible.

Also, we need a number of marshals and helpers to be able to hold the event. If you are able to help please message me. For those hoping to complete the 2022 league, don’t forget, you are required to have marshalled or provided a suitable substitute marshal for at least one of the MFR events.

WHL 2021 Round 3 Pre Entry

PRE ENTRY IS NOW CLOSED BUT YOU CAN ENTER ON THE DAY

Please note the following mitigations in light of recent advice regarding Covid.

Due to the ongoing national concern of the new variant, the increasing numbers on island and the call to take care in larger gatherings, the committee has decided to introduce the following mitigations to enable the race to proceed:

1. Signing on will be done outside - with officials inside, via the double doors off the main room in the Mike Clague centre.

2. Access to the Mike Clague centre will be for toilets only - please do not use them for changing or showering.

3. Anyone accessing an indoor area is asked to wear a face covering.

4. Presentations of the junior hoodies and main league trophies will be done before the race, outside. If the weather is bad, the covered outdoor space will be utilised.

5. First WHL 2021 man and woman prizes will be presented at the end, outside. These ought to be quick and easy to sort out, so people won’t be hanging about too long. Full results will be posted later on.

6. Consequently, there will be no post race tea/coffee/cake.

7. It is recommended that people shelter in their vehicles pre and post race, if the weather is inclement.

8. "Know before you go…” only come to the race if you are clear of symptoms. Use an LFT to check.

Thanks for your support.
